Coastal Cove
This was sheet metal work on the Fort Wayne Zoo’s Coastal Cove, one of Fort Wayne’s most visible public attractions and a notable project for our architectural sheet metal division. Because we fabricate every panel in-house from raw sheet stock, we weren’t limited to a handful of pre-fabricated profiles the way many sheet metal subs are. On a project this visible, the fit and finish had to be right.

What can CMS fabricate in-house that other roofers have to outsource?
Nearly everything. We buy raw 4×10 sheet stock (one side factory-painted, one side raw) and cut, shear, break, and bend it ourselves to the exact spec a project needs. Most Tier 2 and Tier 3 roofing contractors don’t have an in-house metal shop at all. They order everything pre-fabricated and are limited to whatever profiles their supplier stocks.
What sheet metal work do you do most often?
Perimeter sheet metal is the most common work we do, followed by standing seam (where we see the smallest field of competition), then soffit and wall panels.
Do you warranty your sheet metal work?
Yes. Our ANSI/SPRI ES-1 certification means that warranty is backed by the certifying body, not just by us. That’s another layer of protection most competitors can’t offer, plus the ability to form material to virtually any spec instead of choosing from three off-the-shelf options.
