In 1913, Christian Miller, a sheet metal worker, opened his own shop on Broadway in Fort Wayne, doing furnace work and milk-can repairs before expanding into commercial roofing. That simple promise, to do right by the people we serve, is what CMS still runs on today. His sons George and Carl kept the business alive through the Great Depression. In 1980, Christian’s grandson Stan spun off with his own son Bradley to found CMS Roofing, and Stan’s son Phil joined a few years later. Today you can still see “Miller Block” carved into the brick of that original Broadway building, five generations after Christian Miller first opened the door.
